The Smith and Crowther Almshouse charity provides housing for 5 single and needy men or women of good character, who are resident in or have connections to the area of the ancient parish of Parish of Thornton-in-Craven.

The Almshouses are situated on Church Road in Thornton-in-Craven and were erected and endowed pursuant to the desire of Joseph Smith late of the City of London banker, a native of this parish out of the residuary estate of Rachel Smith his widow.

The Smith and Crowther Charity (Charity number 22377) is managed and administered by voluntary Trustees.
